Experts Involved In Treating and Proving Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

What Expert Witnesses Are Hired in Personal Injury Cases?

Proving a brain injury in Arizona courtrooms can be a real challenge. This is because of the inherent nature of brain injuries. First, the person who has suffered a brain injury is less likely to be able to help in their own case and less likely to be a "good witness" for themselves. This is inherent in the nature of the injury. Moreover, brain injuries are not as readily visible as many other types of very serious injuries. Therefore, there are many different expert witnesses that may testify who can help the jury understand the brain injury diagnosis or who may have helped the person who suffered a brain injury try to move forward with their lives.

Neuropsychologists.

A neuropsychologist is an expert at determining what brain function was impaired as a result of the traumatic injury. In addition to doing many other things, this expert will often provide many advanced testing protocols and procedures that can be taken by the person who has suffered the brain injury to try to compare their function now as opposed to what it may have been prior to the incident.

Neurologist.

A neurologist is a specialist when it comes to the nervous system. The nervous system not only includes nerves, but also includes the brain and the spinal cord. Therefore, a neurologist is often very helpful in not only in helping to diagnose the serious brain injury but also in the treatment of those who have suffered significant brain trauma.

Physiatrist.

Physiatrists are an expert in the combination of physical medicine to rehabilitation medicine. Often, these doctors can do a great job in helping to not only work with a client after their injury, but also help them deal with any related pain or other issues associated with the injury.

Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy.

There are therapists in each of these areas that are experts in helping clients overcome the physical and emotional effects of the traumatic brain injury that they have suffered.
