Rear End Collision

Are You a Motorcyclist Who's Been Hurt in a Rear End Crash?

Sudden stops and rear end collisions happen frequently in heavy traffic. When they involve passenger vehicles, these accidents are usually minor, particularly at slower speeds. Conversely, rear end collision and sudden stop accidents involving passenger vehicles and motorcycles can lead to catastrophic injuries or death to motorcycle riders.

If you have been injured in a motorcycle accident caused by another driver's negligence, it is important to speak with an experienced attorney as soon as possible. The costs of medical care, loss of work income, and many other financial and personal losses are often extensive after a rear end/sudden stop accident, or other serious motorcycle collision.

The motorcycle accident lawyers at The Husband & Wife Law Team have an extensive record of success in obtaining favorable settlements and verdicts for our clients. We are committed to aggressively pursuing the maximum compensation for all damages in motorcycle accident cases.

How Do Rear End Motorcycle Crashes Happen?

As motorcycles require less time and distance to stop than heavier vehicles, drivers traveling behind a rider should allow additional space between a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle. This precaution is necessary should the traffic come to a sudden stop, or a motorcyclist is forced to brake for any reason. However, many drivers do the opposite and follow more closely behind motorcycles than other vehicles. This can lead to collisions in which a passenger vehicle collides with a motorcycle from behind.

In this type of wreck, the car lifts the back wheel of the motorcycle off the ground, flipping the bike and the rider forward. At higher speeds, the passenger vehicle may be unable to stop in time to avoid running over the motorcyclist. The bike may cartwheel, end over end, catapulting the rider into objects, causing serious injuries or fatal injuries.

Sudden stops from passenger vehicles are equally dangerous for motorcyclists. A driver who brakes abruptly, for example, to try to avoid missing an exit or a turn, can cause a motorcycle to collide with the back of the vehicle, throwing the rider off the bike, into the air, onto the roadway, or into another vehicle.

Common Injuries in Rear End Motorcycle Accidents

Sadly, fatalities are common in rear end/sudden stop motorcycle collisions. Riders who survive this type of crash may suffer severe or catastrophic injuries, such as:
