Bad Weather and Bike Accidents

Fall is one of the most unpredictable times of year for weather, and at the same time, there are many motorcycle collisions from September through November as riders and drivers are caught off guard on a daily basis. Many riders think that our area is consistent for weather but the truth of the matter is that we still have weather that can be tricky to ride in, especially for vehicle drivers. Staying safe on the road in Scottsdale during fall months is not the same as staying safe during the summer or during the winter. Here are a few things that both riders and drivers should keep in mind to help them prevent and avoid serious motorcycle accidents as the leaves change and the weather follows suit:

  • Watch out for gusty winds that show up right before a rainstorm.

  • Be prepared for any type of weather and don't panic if the skies go from blue, to grey, to black, and back again over the course of only a half hour.

  • Watch the other motorists on the road and be sure you're providing them enough space to stop or react to changes in the weather and the roadway.

Statistics for Motorcycle Collisions During Fall

More than 210 fatalities are recorded throughout the state during this timeframe each year, according to reports. Throughout the entire year, more than 3,000 motorcycle accidents are reported that result in injuries to around 2,550 motorcycle riders and their passengers.
